This "Sun Spirit" coin is the 4th release in the Native American Spirit Coins series released from the Native American Mint. The coin focuses on a red-tailed hawk, in flight ahead of a full sun glowing with healing and peace.

The obverse of this highly detailed coin is slightly concave to accentuate the ultra high relief rendition of a majestic red tailed hawk with its wings and talons prepared for what looks like a landing. As the Sun rises and the Moon sets this majestic bird can be seen, fashioned in the style of indigenous art. The image border contains the inscription "THE NATIVE SPIRIT" above, with "MOON SPIRIT," the date of issue "2023," and "$1" curving below. The reverse then has the coat of arms of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Nation, which is comprised of eight tipis arranged in an attractive circular pattern. The graphic is surrounded by a border of feathers, along with the inscriptions "OGLALA LAKOTA SIOUX NATION," "AMERICA," ".999 FINE SILVER" and "ONE TROY OUNCE."
